"I started photographing my domestic world and writing not just about what I had made,
but why I made it, examining the thoughts that accompany creativity and the act of making."

Cheers!!!

Monday I drove back from the mighty redwood forests
and the wind whipped coastal waters of  northern CA.
My niece and her friend followed me home.
They left Thursday morning  after a fun-filled three day visit:
exploring the Columbia River Highway,
the Women's Forum,
Vista House,
Multnomah Falls
a hike to wildflower meadows near Mt. Hood,
photos at the Jonsrud overlook of the Sandy River Valley
and Mt. Hood still decorated with snow,
enjoying the pioneer exhibits at the Sandy Museum
and tea at Charitea's Tea Shop.
My niece and I managed to play one game of Yahtzee, too.
[she won =)]

AND
I picked up and am learning to use the MacBook Pro!!!

Here are my last week's journal entries for Kate's challenge.

Reasons to be Cheerful

Now I am off to read your blogs to find out
what is new with you.

Cheers  =)

and hugs to you from Gracie <3

    1. Thanks for visiting, HillyT*
I visited your blog this evening to catch up on your news and really enjoyed seeing your dishcloth and scrubby. The colors are so pleasing. I have yet to complete a scrubby, but it is on my want to do list. I hope to post some photos of my trip soon.
      Happy Weekend *

  6. Hi Gracie! Welcome home, I'm happy to know you made it back safely. I'm also getting used to my new MacBook Pro! I really enjoy your journal posts, the art and even your handwriting. Betsy was here in the gorge today and wants to set up a lunch with you and I next time she's here, sound good? I hope you're enjoying your new laptop! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

    1. Hi Teresa! I am having sooooo much fun figuring out how to use the MBP =) I got home late Monday afternoon with just enough time to pick it up before the store closed. Then it about killed me to sightsee and visit with guests and not just be glued to the computer all day instead, even though I loved their visit and all we did together. Today I have pretty well focused just on using the MBP, but mostly just to try to catch up reading posts on the blogs I enjoy following. I was amazed how much I missed in a week!
I would love to meet you and Betsy for lunch when she comes to Portland next!
      Hugs back to you =)

  7. Hi Gracie,

Love your reasons to be cheerful! They always make me smile and remember my own reasons. Thank you for that. Guess what? I'm in Portland, but only until Sunday morning. Tomorrow we're painting the nursery for my soon-to-be-born granddaughter. Next time I come, you Teresa and I need to have lunch or something. Have a wonderful weekend

    Blessings,
    Betsy

  9. Yet again, I love your reasons to be cheerful :) I particularly loved that the redwoods made you happy - back in my native Australia the 'Tingle' trees make me smile in awe and wonder. Your cheerfulness has made me happy too x x

  11. Hello Gracie so nice to have you 'home' your trip sounded wonderful. Notice the sea makes you feel cheerful, it does me as well, though I live about as far away as you can get here. Always go down to the sea though when I visit my Mum. Have fun with your Mac. Anne x
