There Be Ducklings...safely hiding

On the pond just a few steps east of our front door
Mama Duck is hiding while tending her five darling ducklings
While we slowly, softly, step as near as we can to take photos of a fine feathery family we admire and want to share with you across the miles although I could only capture their shadows behind the blades of grass in the middle of this photo
and here in the lower right section of this photo.  Mama duck is keeping her family safe from hawks and the zoom lens of my iPhone4S. (:
Happy Springtime !

Are you enjoying sighting
lambs and calves and chicks and colts and ducklings around you?

  2. I do adore Spring! I've seen lambs and calves but no ducklings yet. When I lived on a houseboat I loved seeing the ducks come around with little tiny babies. One pair of Canada Geese had like 26 babies! I'm soooooo tired from today. Hopefully tomorrow I will rebound. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  5. Love the photos Grace. I have been visiting my friend who lives in Witney. We travelled through some beautiful countryside and I so enjoyed watching the birds come to her bird feeder. As well as having a wonderful time catching up with her. We have been friends for 54 years since we were seven years old. Anne x

  6. Hi Grace
I just wanted to say thank you for visiting my blog and leaving such kind comments. Just thought I would stop by in your little world and say hello.
I love this post - aren't ducklings just the most dear little things. I am animal crazy so Spring for me is the absolutely best time of year as I am surrounded my darling little furry babies at every turn. In fact it has got a bit of a standing joke with my friends that I always end up lagging behind if we go a walk, because I have usually stopped to befriend something cute and furry!

    Lovely post and blog.
    Best wishes
    Sophie
