Five On Friday: Melt Down!

On the pond, my youngest son Tim saw this Feathered Friend,

and in the pond he saw this Furry Friend,

before an icy rain formed icicles on the tips of the Camellia bush leaves,

and snow and ice turned to slush,

and the roadways cleared so now while driving we play dodge the potholes!

Are you playing Dodge the Potholes while driving where you live?

While driving on icy roads Sunday I had a flat tire and ended up with four new all weather tires on the car Monday...an advantage for playing dodge the potholes...I hope :)

Thanks for the Five on Friday link, Amy I am off to find out what other Fives folks are posting!  Happy Weekend!

Gracie xx

  1. I'm so glad you're having a respite from the weather and some melting. We had a little melting too, but had to cancel Bible study tonight because our driveway is still covered with ice...even after several hours of scraping with the ice breaker, (by Dennis, not me). We didn't want anyone else to fall. More snow predicted this weekend. Your photos show how treacherous it was over there. I'm glad you're safe and happy. Be careful out there my friend.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  3. It still looks pretty even though you are in the slushy stage. It's getting lighter in the evenings now thank goodness. Enjoy your weekend.

  4. Loved seeing the wildlife. Sorry to hear about your tyres, the snow really does cause havoc even the aftermath the pot holes can be an issue. Take care.

  5. We had a meltdown too and our woods is getting flooded across the road. Too much rain now. But I'll take the rain over the snow any day! I haven't been out much. Trying to fight off a sinus infection or cold or something. But I'm sure the potholes are out there, they always are!

  6. We dodge potholes all year long. Ugh. Poor little bird out in the cold. Stay warm and enjoy those new tires! Have a lovely weekend.

  7. Oh slushy!
We seem to dodge potholes every day here - even if it hasn't frozen before.

  8. We cluncked over a pothole just this morning, it's good to have weather tyres in such awful conditions the worst thing is when the slush freezes:)

  9. Lovely photos. The potholes here are terrible but then in general the roads are really bad. I didn't know bad roads until I moved to Michigan lol. Even the potholes have potholes!

    Happy Five on Friday

  10. Glad you're through all the frozen white stuff! We have alot of potholes and they're getting worse thru town. We're still waiting for our furnace part and hopefully today. Bought another good heater yesterday and it helped. Thanks for sharing the thaw!!

  11. Still nice and warm here, but rain is on its way for the weekend. Always enjoy wintery pictures, but not in person.

  12. Oh my, that does look cold!! Very cold!! How horrid about your tyres, that is not fun at all, I hope that the new ones give you the advantage with the potholes, they are no fun either are they. There was a large one just up the road from us, thankfully it was filled in quickly, but I didn't enjoy going round it for a few days. Hope you don't have to dodge too many for too long. Stay warm!

  13. Hello Gracie. We've not had snowy, icy weather - some frosts, a flurry of snow but nothing really. However I live on an unmade road and we are always dodging potholes :-) Take cre out there. Hugs Anne x

  14. Brrrrr that does look chilly, Gracie and not good timing for a flat tyre. Although four new tyres should see you shipshape and good to go for a while!
    Keep warm this weekend.

  18. The beaver and bird on/in the pond are wonderful sights. Yes, melting snow can be a real mess for awhile. Hope it ends soon.

  19. Oh dear! Those potholes must be something, but all's well that ends well.

  20. We've been having mild January weather too. Good sighting of the beaver. Have a good day.

  21. I hope your weather warms enough to get rid of the slush. It always looks and feels so depressing when the snow is on its way out. Take care and have a good week.

  22. Oh goodness, I do hope your weather issues get much better. :) I so love that sweet little bird in the picture. Pool little guy looks so cold as he is trying to soak up the warmth of that narrow ray of sunlight in all the shadows. Great picture! What's on your knitting needles and crochet hook lately? Wishing you a lovely day. :)

  23. No icy roads here in Shropshire Gracie, just endless grey skies, mist and drizzle. At least it's not too cold - but I would love a bit of snow! x

  25. It does look icy and cold, Gracie, and I do hope you are getting a reprieve this week. Wonderful to see the little bird and beaver on the icy pond. I've never seen a beaver in the wild - such a thrill. Glad you have some good tires to get you through the winter. You've been hit hard this year, it seems. Thank you for your lovely visit, it's always so nice when you stop by for a 'chat'. Sending hugs and blessings your way. xx Karen

  26. Your pictures do look very cold...and it always seems a shame when the lovely white snow turns to slush! I'm glad you were safe and have now got new tyres Gracie. Keep cosy and have a lovely weekend.
