Amaryllis, Christmas Cactus, Green Shamrock, Geraniums, Purple Shamrock protected from the fiercely falling snow |
The accumulated snow before the rain arrived. See the freezing front pond in the left back of the photo? |
My youngest son crouched down to get this photo of the ice crystals in the front garden ...an ice forest! |
Inside I have been crocheting some Christmas wreath ornaments with size 10 crochet thread. |
And I have been keeping warm and making and eating soup by the fireside. Thanks to Amy from her blog, Love Made My Home, I am linking to share Five on Friday and wondering, "Do you have Five on Friday to share?" You can click HERE to read other Five on Friday posts. Wishing you good days whatever the weather may be where you are 😊 Gracie xx |
I love your festive decoration, the yarn really makes it. I love snow but then I was born in January. Have a peaceful weekend. Jo x
ReplyDeleteYour indoor garden looks amazing, as does the cosy candle and firelight. That is where I would be too making sat near to the fire, enjoying the wonderful looking soup. A gloomy dismal day here but no snow.
ReplyDeleteLovely snow pictures. Nothing better than homemade soup on a cold day. Keep cosy :) B x
ReplyDeleteYour window sill looks so cosy! The ice forest is stunning - say hello to your son! A good shot.
ReplyDeleteHello Gracie. I would like to see some snow here, it's un seasonally warm.Your soup looks delicious. Such a pretty window and lovely view. I love the little wreath you have made. The ice crystals are amazing. Well I must go and get on- lots of chores to get done :-( Take care Anne x
ReplyDeleteOh keep warm and stay by that lovely fire eating that delicious looking soup. I love the little wreaths - so cute! Have a cosy weekend Gracie xx
ReplyDeleteLove your Christmas wreaths - very pretty! The snow has arrived here too. It's pretty to look at but not much fun driving in it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Five on Friday
The wreath ornament is really cute. I do want to learn crochet one of these days!
ReplyDeleteThe picture of the icey garden is just beautiful.
We're supposed to get up to 19 inches of snow this weekend!
The snow and ice make me shiver. We've had biting winds here in SW Missouri, but no snow or ice yet.
ReplyDeleteLove your little wreaths. I made those from yarn one year and sewed a tiny safety pin on the back. My friends loved wearing them. I think they would look cute hanging from door knobs or drawer pulls as well. There - more work for you while you stay in by the fire.
So pleased to see your amaryllis there. I thought mine was struggling - but it's not too far behind yours.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning sweet Gracie! My goodness you are getting the weather in Portland aren't you? More ice this morning too? That's what our weather girl said anyway. We're having snow today, and it's predicted for Saturday and Sunday too. Your fire and soup look so cozy. I also love your Christmas wreath. I was going to make some for this year, but have been kept busy making gifts for others to give! Stay inside and stay warm my friend. I'm going to lunch with a friend today and then to visit our retired pastor who is housebound now. Last, we're going to mall to buy her husbands Christmas gift. I don't like the mall at all, but have forced myself to go walk there every day this week for exercise. It's too cold to walk outside and after being in bed most of November, I have absolutely no strength in my legs. It does feel good to get out though.
ReplyDeleteBlessings always,
Betsy
I would definitely be by the fire with a bowl of soup crocheting the day away. I am not a cold weather person at all. But it sure looks pretty. The ice crystals are pretty cool. I've made many of those wreaths in the past. Haven't done any Christmas crochet this year. Think it's about time I started. :)
ReplyDeleteGosh it looks very cold! I think that staying in and eating soup and crocheting has to be a good way to stay warm! The ice crystals are incredible, great photo!
ReplyDeleteIt was neat to see how the snow is looking at your house. We're all snowy and icy here, too. I love your little crocheted wreathes! I'm going to try some cute crochet today.. for now it's a secret. LOL! The boys are restless today and are wrestling and giggling.. it's going to be a long day. LOL! Enjoy your enforced day in.. I will too. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

The mini ice forest in your garden is beautiful. I am always amazed at what nature produces. Your little wreath is adorable, did you come up with the pattern? Have a lovely weekend. x
ReplyDeleteI think I Iooked at a crocheted wreath pin I was given and then experimented. Whatever size ring I use I slipstitch around it...not to tight. Then in a top stitch I put my crochet hook and chain 5-7 chains, then slipstitch into the next stitch and chain 5-7 chains until the wreath is full. If I want to make a hanger I just chain as long a loop as I want and fasten it off. I attach a bow/tiny bells. They are quick and fun to make!
DeleteLooks like you got a tiny bit more snow that we did. I always find something to photograph in the snow. I did last night. Your wreath crochet ornament is cute! I'm glad the weather has warmed up a bit. Very little evidence of snow left. It's all melted! Happy day to you my friend!
ReplyDeleteI really like the photo of the ice crystals. Warm soup sounds perfect for a day like the one you showed us. We had some snow too, but most of it is gone now. Tomorrow afternoon we're supposed to get some more.
ReplyDeleteOh Gracie, you have such a lovely and warm setting for this beautiful winter season. The ice crystals are amazing. And, I live the tiny wreath you crocheted. Wishing all the best, Pat xx
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely windowsill with plowerpots and nice little things! It looks familiar for me...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Christmas ornament, I've never tried to crochet one -
Great ice chrystals, but I hope, the frost becomes not to hard.
Enjoy your time
Brr! The teeny Christmas wreath is so pretty. Nothing better than a warm bowl of soup on a cold day.
ReplyDeleteHello, Grace
ReplyDeleteYour window with flower pots and the snowy garden in the back is so lovely.
Your son captured such a surprising ice crystal world!
How warm and cosy everything looks inside whilst you have cold and snow outside. Your soup looks so tasty and comforting for a cold day:)
ReplyDeleteVery nice group of 5 things for this week. That's a cute little wreath.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are having a lovely time Gracie.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I'm a little envious of those of you who are seeing snow this early in the year. I'm in Nashville. we usually get one snow in January or February that lasts a couple of days and then is gone.
ReplyDeleteHi Gracie - it's certainly time for frosty the snowman to appear at your place, well done to son for risking frosty knees in the name of art!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Wren x

Hi Gracie! I've been mostly offline for almost a month but I hope to be back a bit now. I had heard about the snow in Oregon and know that most people are loving it.
