High Desert Swim in the Valley

Teresa may have taken this photo for me with my camera.  We thought of Aimee while we took photos of the church.

It seems impossible to me that a week ago today, Teresa, Dayle, and their two young grandsons invited me to go with them to Kahneeta Hot Springs in a valley on the other side of Mt. Hood in one section of Oregon's high desert country.

We had a fabulous time...good company, stunning scenery, fun activity and I hope you will click on Teresa's name and check out her account on her wonderful blog if you have not visited her before.  I  so appreciate her friendship and her artistry in sharing the creative, the beautiful, and the interesting in her lifestyle blog.

The rest of the week flew by with lunches out with other friends, attending church services, swimming at the local pool, and attending a worship art group where for the first time I got to experiment with illustrating a Scripture with acrylic paint on canvas with collage.

Thank you for expressing your interest in my comings and goings, and your concern for my son-in-law.  He is getting better but still home from work.

What is new with you?  I love hearing from you!

Gracie xx

  2. LOVED your photos Grace! My heart so longs for a trip to the high desert but it will have to wait for now. Yep! I certainly do have a weakness for old historic churches--and that one would be great to see in person! Love it:) Glad you and Teresa have been able to spend so much time together!
    Blessings,
    Aimee

  5. Oh that does look like a wonderful trip Gracie - you've taken some beautiful pics and I thank you for sharing them with us all. I believe I do spy a snake in your twelfth pic but expect you kept a safe distance from it! You do lead a very full life with so much going on and I always enjoy hearing about your 'escapades' - and your artwork is looking lovely, well done Gracie! Love and blessings, Joy xo

  14. Oh Gracie, this post and the last have tugged at my heartstrings! I have some very happy memories of swimming in the warm springs pools with my grandparents at Kahneeta. And of course, Timberline Lodge... Here life has been full and unpredictable, with ups and downs, as my daughter regains her health. She is physically so very much improved, and emotionally and mentally challenged by trying to rebuild a life for herself, meet friends, find things to do, etc. God is very close to both of us every day. I am getting even better at being very flexible! Thank you for asking ;-) Really hope your son-in-law is improving. Is it labyrinthitis? There are manipulations that can be done for that, apparently they shift the crystals?... not New Age mumbo jumbo but orthodox medicine!

  15. Enjoyed your post and fotos. Like that card that you made? I've had a busy but good week, went to Ore Christian Convention 2 nights then good portion of the day on Friday. Made a new friend as well while meeting people I've known since I was young! I've not missed being at work at all! Blogs are like letters via internet with photos! Take care!

  16. I never knew Oregon had desert! I always imagined it was damp and full of forests, with a climate a bit like the UK. That first photo is amazing - it looks like the mountain just rises straight up out of the flat land. x
