Lambing Season

After swimming with Teresa  I got this zoomed view of Mt. Hood from the parking lot in Gresham, Oregon

While Mt. Hood has a thick white cape of snow on it, there are signs of Spring in my yard.  The daffodil leaves are shooting up toward the sun and blossoms are forming in their swollen stems. Our Camellia bush must have exhausted itself blooming last year because it has very few buds on it this year, but those few buds are an encouraging dark pink.  Spring in our part of the world is surely on the way!

And guess what the UPS driver delivered to my house today!!!!  Lambs!!!!  Meredith reported that Fluffy Baa Baa [who traveled from here to Florida to join Meredith's household and be loved by her family, including their new son, Buddy] had four little lambs!!!!  Meredith, is convinced that the four little girls in my household will be loving shepherdesses for the lambs.  The lambs' arrival certainly generated a lot of jumping about and hugging!!!!  [These are the best of the blurry photos :) ] Baby Rose was tuckered out by all the excitement, but I think that Meredith is right, the girls will lovingly tend Fluffy Baa Baa's lambs.  Thank you for so generously giving them the chance to do so, Meredith.

Have any lambs arrived around you?

Gracie xx

  4. I wondered. When I saw on Meredith's blog that the little lambs were traveling-and you with four sweet granddaughters, well, I wondered! And I was right!!!! Your pictures of the girls are so sweet. The anticipation of opening the box. The jumping around with giddiness. Then Rose, all tuckered out after meeting her little lamb. That Meredith. I think she' one of the sweetest ladies in blogland. I also love your spring pictures. We have absolutely NO SIGNS of spring here in Spokane. Snow yesterday and more over the next three days or so. Hopefully I'll be back in your "neck of the woods" next month and we can once again have lunch and fun together.
    Blessings always Gracie,
    Betsy

  6. Ha ha, lambing season! I haven't seen any here yet in Scotland, but I haven't been out in the countryside for a few weeks. Lambs are truly one of the greatest things ever invented. As my husband once remarked, when we'd pulled into a layby just to watch them frolic, "What a shame that they turn into sheep!"

What a beautiful photo of your camellia bud. My fingers are crossed for the one in our garden, which was dug up, left for a while, and replanted - with many buds, which are still on it.

And that baby! The sweetest baby - I love the photo of it looking up at all the action from its bouncing contraption (don't know what it's called!).

Gracie thank you so much for your lovely comment about my daughter's healing on my blog. Thank you.

  13. Meredith is such a sweetheart, no wonder the children were so excited to greet the new additions!

No sign of lambs here so far, but shouldn't be too long before they start to appear in the fields.

  18. Popping back (I presume my previous comment didn't get lost?) to confirm that at least in the Clyde Valley of Scotland, the lambs have yet to make an appearance.

  19. Dear Gracie,

I clapped with delight when I saw those sweet lambs! You see, when I was expecting Angélique, my youngest, over four years ago, my other children and I decided to chose her first soft toy and after hours of deliberating we opted for the very same lamb as the ones you have shared with us! She still loves it and so do we!

How wonderful to see signs of spring in your backyard and the majestic view of snow-capped Mt Hood!

I wish you and your wonderful family much happiness and joy until my next visit.

    Warmest wishes,

    Stephanie
