Post Office to Posting...

The third week of Advent has been cold and misty with showers of rain and Mt. Hood has been hidden from my sight most of the time.  The ponds still have some ice on them, and ventures outside make coming inside into the cozy warmth especially welcome.

Inside I have been crocheting more wreath ornaments, writing some Christmas cards watching Christmas movies, wrapping and packing presents and packages, listening to Christmas music, and I just tried making Lisa's yummy Spicy-Sweet Toasted Pecans recipe.  Lisa and her family recently moved into a log cabin in Colorado!  Sigh...and I have been enjoying her blog account of their settling in :)

My oldest daughter, her four little daughters and I ventured out to the Post Office and the postal worker gave the two older girls little gift packets. [They liked them more than the expressions I caught on their faces show you :)]

In lieu of having snow outside, [except on Mt. Hood] it has been fun to have my youngest daughter and her husband's lit Christmas village glowing inside, and  Advent candles lit as we come to the longest night of the year.  I am looking forward to our candlelight service at church on Christmas Eve as well.  I wish you could enjoy it with me!

Blessings to you and yours :)
Gracie xx

  1. Hi Gracie.. lots of pretty homey lovely loving photos of your home and the littlies. LOVE the photo of you holding the new darling Rosie! I'm so impressed with the village, the lights under the snow.. where did they install that? Just magical! Can't wait to see you on Monday. OH.. we went to the Apple store today to get my new iPad Air.. but I can't "play" with it until Christmas day. Oh the suspense!

    1. In the library/office room on the way to the kitchen from my living room underneath the window is where they have it set up. It looks a little rough around the edges in reality, but it somehow reminds us of New England wintery villages we imagine we would like to live in :)

  3. Hi Gracie! Oh the preciousness of a new baby. The picture shows the JOY you feel with your newest granddaughter. Your village is beautiful too. I passed mine on to Mandy a few years ago. Your advent wreath brings such a warmth to my heart. I haven't had one since I was a child, but yesterday I purchase everything I will need next year at Michaels 70% off sale. So now I'm prepared!!! See you Monday!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  4. creatingwithwool (http://creatingwithwool.wordpress.com/) has left a new comment on your post "Crocheting Christmas Wreath Ornaments":

My internet has been down for several days so just now able to catch up on blog reading. I did use the plastic milk jug rings and they worked just fine. I will try and get some photos of mine for a future post. I found crocheting these little wreaths to be quite addictive! :-)

  10. I love the Post Office photo ... it looks a bit like our P.O. - small! The girls are so cute, and that baby looks delicious. I got to hold a baby today - what a treat it was.

You were asking about the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols - it's often available on local Public Radio stations. You can also listen to it online at the American Public Media website, or, even better, the BBC radio website. It is broadcast live on Christmas Eve at ... let's see, it would be 7:00 am your time (which is 3 pm in Cambridge). There are often re-broadcasts available, so I'm sure that if you Google it you'll find plenty of listening choices.

Maybe you'll get some snow before Christmas! :)

P.S. Those little crochet wreaths are adorable. They look like they'd be addictive to make.
