WIP Springing Forth

Although Mt. Hood is getting more snow on the first day of Spring, here below we are getting rain interrupted by SUNSHINE!!!

Before I headed out to mail my great-niece's cowl hood to her, I looked up to find little Miss Molly modeling it and she agreed to let me show you her doing so :-)

While the cowl hood is my latest finish, more works in progress are springing forth thanks to Helen and Alicia who have lured me to want to make bunnies...among other projects.

Yesterday, on the last day of winter I made Winter-Spring Soup which I had for lunch yesterday and will finish today for lunch.

Winter-Spring Soup

Saute two links of sausage
two stalks of celery
one sliced carrot
one handful chopped kale
two green onions
two medium potatoes chopped with skin

add two cups of filtered water
a dash of cayenne pepper and
salt to taste

Simmer in the crockpot until the fragrance entices you to try the soup :-)

Shelby Dog has been her happy self yet not so healthy in the winter of her life...a change that is reason for sadness for us while appreciating her more in this season.

Kathy, the flower photos are especially for you...Spring is coming...even to Chicago :-)

What season of life are you in?

  1. Beautiful photos Gracie--especially of Miss Molly! You should print that one out and frame it:)
Ahhh--our dogs are getting older too. Two of them have limited eyesight but they do pretty well in getting around. I am in denial about them aging.
To answer your question...autumn and I have mixed emotions about it.
    Blessings, Aimee

  2. Oh, I like the looks of that soup recipe.

And with your lovely selection of photos, all I could think was "Tea! I spy a pot of tea!" :)

It's below freezing here today with a wicked northwest wind ... enjoy that sunshine!

  3. I adored all your photos, you are getting more artistic with your camera results all the time! I would suppose I'm winter in my life but I don't like that at all as I'm not a fan of winter. I think I'll stick with Spring. We'll have to get together soon and get you farther on your shawl. :-) ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  4. Hello Gracie dear! It's raining here too and just as I clicked on your blog I heard thunder! I can count on both hands the number of times I've heard thunder in the 19+ years we've lived here and I've already heard it twice this month! Strange weather happenings!
Your soup looks delicious along with your pot of tea in your cozy sitting room. I LOVE your room. It exactly what I would like to have to live in, it's so warm and inviting.
Miss Molly is so cute peeking out of the cowl. I'm sure your niece will love it. Your little puppy dog looks so content right where she is. It's so hard to think of not having them around isn't it?
What a blessing you are to me Gracie. I'm so glad we've become friends.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  8. Spring is here, but is is still a bit chilly out. I am looking forward to a tad warmer temps, but it is Florida so it will go from cool to blazing hot in a day. I have been kicking myself for not ordering that bunny kit, I am hoping the next one comes out soon.
    Hugs to you Gracie,
    Meredith

It's been a cold and dark day here for the start of Spring and there is a threat of snow for Friday. The soup looks yummy. I ahve far too many W'sIP. Hugs Anne x

  12. Oh, such a sweet dog. Dogs in old age are a heartbreak for me.

I see you scored one of Alicia's bunny kits, you lucky gal. I couldn't believe they all sold in a day. I'll be curious to see how it goes and see your finished bun.

  13. I loved seeing the sunlight streaming into your home today, and your dear old dog making the most of it! It all looks so cheerful there and your soup must have been delicious! Thank you for showing my book and the link to me too, dear Gracie! I hope you enjoy all your new makes!

  14. Hello, I just got you linked on my site for WIP Wednesdays. :) I've had a bit of catch up to do since vacation and also my site was down for a bit. I really like your living space. Is that your creative space in the corner? I would love to see another pic of that area. I'm moving to a smaller place in the near future and may not have the extra bedroom for my fibery goods, so I've been scouring the interwebs for ideas on studio space. I really like yours! Soup looks delicious, one of my favorite meals! Great pictures! Happy Knitting! Jen

    1. Thanks Jen! I'm glad you like my space and I will try to take some pictures for you to show you how I have organized it, mainly with somes shelves and a day bed from IKEA. I also have numerous baskets I have picked up from Salvation Army or Good Will or Dollar stores to hold various projects. I have some Creative Memories containers to hold my scrapbooking things and then black or brown cloth bags to hold other projects. When comments are posted I get an e-mail but yours was listed as a no-reply so I could not e-mail you back...I will search your site again to see if I can find your e-mail address...the technical part of blogging I find challenging :) Thanks for introducing yourself to me!

  15. Love seeing inside your home, all the different aspects and the soup looks good. No sign of Spring here yet. Cold winds and snow. Dark & dismal. Lasting till Easter apparently.

  16. Hi Aunt Gracie! I had a package on my plate Friday afternoon with your return address on it... Thank you so much, I LOVE the cowl hood!! :D I immediately put it on and wore it for the rest of the evening, it was so nice and warm; I'll have to get a good picture of me wearing it and email it to you. :) Tell everyone hello and thanks for modeling the hood. :D
