Hearts and Flowers

I like the rhythm of the seasons and am enjoying Winter...as long as I don't have to drive on ice :)  And I am enjoying learning how you celebrate or dread or just tolerate the change of seasons.

Last year I made my first crocheted hearts using Teresa's well written and photographed free pattern which I found on her blog.  I gave away more than a dozen of the hearts I made last year so have started making more this last week.

On Jenny's blog, Audrey Finch, I admired some wax paper, crayon hearts she  made and had great fun making some myself.  Two little grand girls helped, and their mom made some, too.  Then a friend spied them on a visit here and made  herself a batch as well.  On a layer of newspaper we laid a sheet of wax paper.  Then we shaved crayon wax onto the wax paper, put another layer of waxed paper on top of the shavings with a sheet of construction paper on top of the top sheet of waxed paper.  I pressed a warm iron on the stack of papers for just a little time.  After the paper cooled I traced hearts shapes on the top waxed paper.  I cut out the hearts and used a needle and thread to position a thread in the heart to form a loop for hanging the heart.

I hung up three of Teresa's hearts I had made along with the wax paper hearts that I had made.  Then I hung up three of the  wonderful hearts my bloggy friend Sarah had sent me from England.

Then I positioned two of the crocheted flowers, that my bloggy friend Meredith sent me from Florida, on either side of the little pot of blooming crocus I am enjoying inside while I wait for Spring and the crocus outside to bloom.

What is your favorite type of flower? [I am especially fond of Gardenias]

xx,
Gracie

  8. All the hearts are lovely. :)

I think my fav flower has to be a camellia. Pink ones. I love how pretty they are on bushes and then when they fall to the ground they are still just as lovely...it's like a blanket of pretty around the bush. :)

Hope your weekend is filled with many blessings. :)

  9. What a happy, happy window you have Gracie! So cozy and full of warmth and love in what could otherwise be a rather dreary time of year. I love all flowers but the simplicity of daisy's really tug at my heart. Thanks for sharing your corner with us.
    Blessings,
    Betsy
