There were so many days in a row with only a trace of rain here I almost entitled this post, Parched Portland, but compared to many places even our driest seems moist and cool. Today the rain is gently falling, the heater is running, and I have my Homespun prayer shawl about me as I type to you. Last Sunday afternoon we drove around some of the back roads to our house. We stopped and bought two bouquets of dahlias and daises from a farm stand...perhaps the last we will have this season. When we got home we walked around the ponds that are just grassy puddles now, although a stream of water is still rippling through the brush. It was a perfect day to enjoy swinging and strolling and staring at the wondrous sights around us before settling in to the comforts of hearth and home.
Are you having happy autumn days? I hope so :) xx from Gracie
Autumn is such a pretty time of year. Looks like the kids were enjoying themselves on the swings. The hearth and flowers look cozy and your rug, looks familiar, looks very similar to the one I have in my dining room! Have a wonderful weekend. Heather
ReplyDeleteI love the girls sharing a book...adorable :) x
ReplyDeleteHi Gracie, what a gorgeous day out! The girls look like they are having fun swinging and look at those TREES....they are so pretty. I to just love this time of the year. Have a lovely weekend, hugs Shari!
ReplyDeleteGracie, your photos are great! You are getting quite artsy! I love the swing set - we want to get a jungle gym set here on the farm for our grandsons. I look forward to getting together with you soon! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

ReplyDeleteWe have had an incredible autumn haven't we? Good for children and adults too:) I missed it today as I dug out a pair of sweat pants, but I know we really need it...
A prayer shawl? I LOVE that idea!
Blessings,
Aimee
What a lovely set of photographs, it seems that your autumn is taking a similar course to ours at the moment. Isn't it perfect weather for woolly crafts?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photographs, the fall colours on the trees are eye-popping.
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a cosy and relaxing fall day today - I went out to town with my daughter this morning and as it was a little chilly we dropped into a chocolate shop for hot chocolate - such a treat!

My autumn days are getting colder and colder, Gracie. But these photos are so heart-warming, I have to smile. :) Looks like a beautiful day you spent with family.
ReplyDeleteOooh those photo's are gorgeous! The colours of those leaves are breathtakingly beautiful :) It is certainly a lovely way to remember a day spent with your family.
ReplyDeleteI love the image of you in your prayer shawl, I have one too that a friend made for me, and I love throwing it around my shoulders in the autumn x x
Thanks for visiting me and here I am to see you. Love the pics and the flowers by the hearth makes me feel very cosy. Joan
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, Gracie. The fall colors are spectacular but my favourite is the girls reading together. Here we are snug inside while the rain batters the windows!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos Gracie! I love the little girls in cowboy hats - so cute. Thanks for posting.

ReplyDeleteAll of your images are gorgeous. We are loving our fall colors here. THey originally predicted a poor color season due to our drought, but it seems they were wrong!
I love seeing the changing colors and that wonderful fire! Here in my area, it's NOT autumn yet. 80s and 90s all week. However, the calender tells me it's October.
ReplyDeleteHi Gracie,
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful colors in your pictures. You are quite the photographer these days. I can feel the warmth of your cozy fire, and, after visiting your home, can imagine sitting there with you, sharing a cup of tea.
I'm still here in Portland and we took little Miss Piper for her two week check today. She's growing quickly and I'm loving the "Grandma" cuddles I'm getting to have with her.
Have a wonderful week and enjoy the rain.
Blessings,
Betsy

Beautiful pictures and Autumn colours. Family look like they are having fun too.
ReplyDeleteLoved this post! Felt so warm and cozy! Back road farmstands are the absolute best for discovering fresh local beauty.
ReplyDeleteLovely post Gracie which I somehow missed seeing when we got back from a short trip. Lovely colours and the children are so sweet. I feel so blessed to have my lovely granddchildren and for the beauty of nature all around us. Love Anne x
ReplyDeleteOooh sooo pretty! Can you keep the colors around until I come visit?! :) Enjoyed catching up on your blog, can't wait to see you in a few short weeks!
