Opinions Please!!!

L. Lambiekins and I
are a bit perplexed...

A Lucy Ripple or a Granny Stripe or a
Bobble Blanket would all be grand choices for this beautiful acrylic Stylecraft yarn I bought from deramores, but I have this pattern...
More Granny Squares Coats & Clark Book No. 286.

For 31 years I have packed and unpacked this pattern for several moves back and forth across the USA.
With my limited experience I am not certain, but I think the Stylecraft yarn will be just right for this. I will just have to buy some skeins of black to join the squares together.

Opinions? Advice? Directions?

Are any projects perplexing you?

  1. Well let see....you have all the color that are in the afghan.. and since you keep taking that pattern out...I think you should go ahead and make it or you could make just a simple ripple afghan with them...any way, I think it will come out beautiful!

  2. I think you should make this blanket because you have kept the pattern for so long you must really like it. It think it would be beautiful with those colors. By the way I am always perplexed with yarn choices.

  3. I used my Stylecraft to make a Lucy "neat ripple" - and I love it. But whatever you decide, it will be beautiful and soft! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  5. I also think that because you have kept this pattern for so long, through so many moves, that these beautiful skeins of yarn would make this blanket magnificently. But I'm also with Teresa, anything you choose to make with it will be wonderful.

    Blessings,
    Betsy

  6. I think it's time for the pattern you have kept for so many years to finally be made with the lovely yarn you have bought. However, as everyone else has said - whatever you make will be lovely :)
I am sure you will make the best choice for the yarn x x x

  7. Grace, what a lovely post!

I love colors, and the Lucy pack color choices are fab. I have never used Stylecraft yarn, but it looks soft.

I always have a hard time choosing colors before starting a project.

Personally, seeing that you keep this pattern for so many years, no matter where you go, I think it is the first choice.

Plus, the colors are perfect for it. If you are able to afford it, get all the black you need and just make this afghan you love!

Many people are making these other choices, and you can make them later. This pattern type is less common to see, but just as colorful. I think it would make you happy as you work on it and even happier when you have your Ta-Da! I will be watching for it!!!

  10. I agree that the pattern will be lovely in those colours! I don't crochet (yet) but have made Mags Kandis' Modern Quilt Wrap in similar colours and have been very happy with it. I like the black border in your pattern.

  11. I think you should make the mitred squares, it would be refreshing to see the stylecraft used in that way. I use that yarn for all my blanket work and confirm that it works up beautifully into all different squares and patterns for afghans, I think your intuition is right and you should give it a go.

If you have any trouble ordering the black Stylecraft online let me know, it is abundantly available over here!

  12. I thought I'd commented on this post Gracie but I'm obviously 'losing it'. I am sure whatever you choose to do will be beautiful. As you have kept that pattern for so long then maybe it's meant to be and you should do it. Love Anne x

  13. I'm starting a bobble blanket for my daughter who is pregnant with her first child (and my 4th grandchild). I'm so very excited to start this. I love the pattern you have and I agree with Anne's post. If you've had this pattern for 31 years, it is meant to be. I found your blog by way of Kate's (Granny taught me to crochet). I look forward to following the progress of this blanket and your post.
