This Granny's First Granny Square :)

The pattern calls for the square to have a row of black all around.
[  I have to order the black yarn.]

In rereading the directions I realize I skipped over

 typing a special decrease instruction which is one excuse for the square being wonkier than it should be :(
But I am excited that I have figured out most of what I need to do.

Learning to Blog/About Pie Cherries/Blueberries

Well...I have been informed that this is a pie cherry tree growing outside my bedroom window.  Our first year in this house we enjoyed the brief week of cherry blossoms that festooned this enormous tree.  The tree rises well above the roof of the house.  This year I missed seeing the blossoms because I was in California that week.  We worried that the tree has so much moss on it that it was being choked to death.  However, that does not seem to be the case from what I have read and observed.  The tree does produce fruit which the robins in particular seem to enjoy.  We tasted a few cherries, puckered and wailed about their tartness and determined that for another year we would not fight the robins for them.

The cherries are about the size of the blueberries on our blueberry bush.  But whereas the blueberries are all fruit, the cherries are mostly pit with a little sour fruit.  Hmmmm...I need to learn how to appreciate them and encourage them to be less pitiful, just as I need to learn how to set up this blog so that I can receive comments.  I have not let many folk know that I am blogging...but I have asked my daughters and another young friend to try to send a comment, to see if I have the blog set up properly to receive comments.  They were unable to post comments...sigh...I have spent hours trying to learn the mechanics of setting up commenting on this  blog and as yet have not spotted my mistake....  But whereas I can gladly surrender my pie cherries to the birds; I will not not surrender blogging as an activity for the birds.

No indeed!  This Saylor believes that blogging can be a wonderful form of communication...informing, inspiring, entertaining....oh how I look forward to reading your comments!  (:
