Spring Perspective

Perspective.  It has special meaning to me at the moment.

Put aside the hot topics of money, politics, and religion. Focus on visual perspective.

You see, on Tuesday, my blog friend, Teresa, drove us to Canon Beach, Oregon for the afternoon. We had a yummy seafood lunch at the Wayfarer.  Then Teresa found the perfect spot for us to work on watercolor paintings of Haystack Rock.

Teresa is a wonderful, interesting friend from whom I feel I learn something new each time we are together...and I have a lot of fun in the process!

Tuesday afternoon we sat side by side to sketch and paint.  As in so many skills, Teresa is way ahead of me in knowing what she is doing.
Although we were looking at the same seascape, we each picked a different angle to sketch.

After two enjoyable hours, Teresa had a lively painting signed with a flourish and my painting still wasn't/isn't finished, but you can see what we painted by clicking here.

In order to finish my painting, among other things I need to adjust the perspective of the horizon I sketched...otherwise I have the Tillamook Rock Light floating on thin air!  But I loved the process of sketching and experimenting with strokes of paint.  Very satisfying!

Here at home recently I enjoyed the perspective of a Trillium flower my oldest SIL snapped in a photo in our woods with his phone.  Then this morning I enjoyed a perspective next to our front yard hose,  of our little apple tree full of white blossoms.  Also, I enjoyed seeing flurries of white wild cherry blossoms which landed on our front yard flower gardens and our gravel driveway.

In the perspective I shared with you of the preemie blanket I am knitting, the blanket is folded in half.  I am making good progress on it and enjoying how the self-striping yarn is flowing from row to row.

Winter Project Link Party at Thistlebear: December

 Knowing I am invited to Jennifer's party every month this winter is keeping me motivated to keep working on these three projects...and enjoy each one!  Since my November party post, I have only completed three or four rows on the blue Merino wool blanket, four to six rows on the crocheted shawl and maybe ten or more rows on the baby blanket, but each row is progress that has brought me closer to completing each project :)

 My favorite chair by our Christmas tree is where my current projects hang out.  I often take the baby blanket with me when running errands in case I have some spare time while waiting  to knit a row or so. I have also added another crochet project that I hope to complete this winter. I purchased a kit from Taci to crochet a pretty lacy edge on a decorative tea towel for my kitchen [or someone else's. :) ]

    

  In the past I have taken a cotton terry tea towel and crocheted a decorative top with cotton yarn forming a buttoned tab one can use to fasten the towel to a rack, but Taci's design is so pretty, I would love to learn to create it myself!

Winter Project Link Party At Thistlebear: November

 I am so excited that Jennifer organized this Link Party, and I decided to try to participate!  After a month I can see that I am making progress on my three main projects. In fact, I got out my measuring tape and measured the width of my blue Super Blanket.  The finished width is supposed to be 56" and I have 26" inches completed so far :)  That means I am almost half way done!  Woohoo!  The blanket is big enough now that it helps keep me warm when I am working on it.

 Keeping warm is becoming more important to me as the weather is sliding from Fall toward Winter and I am noticing more and more snow on Mt. Hood when it peeks out under the clouds.  It is sporting a thicker and thicker blanket of glorious white snow. [I stopped at 232nd and 212 to snap these photos on the way home from a meeting Nov. 6th]

When I tried on my Ruby Shawl  today the tip of the shawl is at my waist so I will soon start crocheting the ruffle. It will be wonderful when the shawl can keep my shoulders warm instead of my lap :)

The baby blanket I am knitting had a bit of set back when I had to rip out some rows this week, but it is getting bigger.
