but why I made it, examining the thoughts that accompany creativity and the act of making."

Remembering Teresa Kasner

It is so difficult to accept that dear Teresa passed away in a hospital Thursday afternoon, May 6, 2021, after a short unexpected illness.

Her beautiful photographs brought her blog to my attention about ten years ago.  As I got to know her through her blog I was amazed to learn that she lived very close to me and I am very grateful we met and grew a precious friendship, swimming many laps in various pools side by side through the years.

Teresa's artistry in various mediums attracted the admiration of many. Her great administrative ability benefited many organizations she served. Her deep affection for family, friends, and country nurtured many as well. Her sense of adventure led her to sail on the sea and on wonderful Waldo Lake and encouraged many to appreciate how precious and beautiful life is.

Teresa's wordsmithing ability entertained and informed and challenged those who read what she wrote...and what fun I had regularly playing Scrabble or Words with Friends with her...even though more frequently than not Teresa was the winner!

As we miss Teresa so very much, may the Lord help us honor her life as we love one another, and fill the world with love and beauty as she did so generously.

A visit to her blog was always a treat, it felt like sitting with her for a while and having a chat, in her cosy living room or admiring her beautiful garden. I always felt a bit better after reading her words. She was often just off for a swim with you. You've written very beautifully about your friend, I know you will miss her and I will too. CJ xx

  11. Sweet Gracie, what a wonderful post. Your words about Teresa are so true. I know your friendship was much closer than mine was with her. She will definitely be sorely missed here in blogland, but even more in your life personally. Teresa touched so many lives. I hope she realized the difference she made with her life and her many talents.
    Take care of yourself Gracie.
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy

  12. My heart is with you. She will be missed by so many.
My dear friend Michael Gould passed away on Saturday after battling ALS. He was only 72 and had retired just before the disease was diagnosed.
The finality of death is hard to fathom. I know that your faith will give you great comfort at this time. I am kind of an atheist, which makes death very hard to accept.

  16. Gracie, this was a moving and beautiful tribute. Teresa was a wondrous soul, and more than anything, through her blog, she taught me to notice and appreciate the “small” things. It’s what’s immediately around us – the corners of our home, the smiles of our loved-ones, the flowers in our garden – these are the things that matter the most. I want to also thank you for blogging and sharing; It’s been lovely rediscovering this peaceful and pretty place of yours.
