Crafting in the New Year 2021

Seeing the natural beauty of Mt. Hood rising above the cluttering signs of civilization inspires me! While riding with my youngest daughter doing an errand last week I was able to craft this photo of the mountain with my cell phone.

Our condominium community is going through the process of replacing the old wooden fences.  The new synthetic fence around my patio was installed this week, and I hope it is crafted to wear well!

Inside I have been crocheting a new baby blanket during our church group online Zoom meetings. I am making double crochet rows using acrylic Red Heart yarn. The snowmen on the blanket on my couch attest to my mid-winter decorating. 🧶⛄️🧶⛄️🧶⛄️🧶⛄️🧶

A friend brought me four Paper White flower bulbs I have planted in the middle pot shown above.  I have never grown any before, have you?  Ahhh...the craft of gardening...just enough moisture, light, and temperature to encourage the bulbs to bloom...  So far one bulb is enthusiastically growing!

Most of the snow I see is on Mt. Hood and not down here where I live a little southeast of PortIand, Oregon.  I am glad to not have to shovel snow, but I have good memories of playing in the snow and crafting many snowmen. Have you ever made a snowman?⛄ Even though I am grateful to not have to shovel snow, I have been hoping we might get a little bit, and we did a few days ago.  It was wonderful watching the pretty snowflakes falling and accumulating for a few hours one afternoon.

Have you been crafting anything in January 2021?

Gracie 🤗

  2. So nice to see your blog post pop to the top of my list! A fun shot of Mt. Hood above Gresham.. I've seen that image so many times over my life. Your newest baby blanket is looking cozy for some lucky bairn. How nice to have a brand new enclosure for your outdoor space. Maybe someday I will be able to join you for a chat there. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  3. Mt. Hood has been beautiful every time I see it while driving on 99E. We got some snow on Tues late afternoon. I posted about it on my blog on Friday. Right now I am going thru tote and recycling and donating items not used any more. A room was flooded from shower head and lots of stuff out of the room. I'm taking care of most of it since Megan isn't living here any more. Different than we expected but good to be empty nested again. Eventually I'll get the quilt finished for my granddaughter's birthday late May. Since I'm home now I have more time to get things done. Have a good day!!

  4. Hi Sweet Gracie: I love that verse as it reminds me that He is in control and we just need to trust Him in all that we do.
What a beautiful photo of Mt. Hood. I forgot to ask you when we talked the other night if you felt the rumblings of the mountain the other day? Apparently it was having major stomach pains! :-)
Your baby blanket is beautiful and will keep a little one very warm and cozy during the chilly weather there. I just love the view of your happy and cozy little apartment buildings. You know how much I love those apartments and I would be watching to buy one if we were staying in the northwest. I really like the vinyl fences. Much easier for upkeep as long as you keep on top of any mold that might grow in the dampness. Lots of the apartment bldgs. I paid bills for had those types of fences. There was little to no maintenance.
I'm glad you had a wonderful month. You are such a blessings in my life and a good friend to lean on and discuss the Lord with. Thank you for that Gracie.
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy

  6. Wonderful to see your monthly post appear on my blog list Gracie. I always enjoy reading your posts and seeing what you have been crafting. An impressive snapshot of the snow covered slopes of Mt Hood. I gather you like sheep as you have an adorable collection and your snowman blanket also caught my eye! Beautiful baby blanket and very pretty colours. I do like Red Heart yarn it used to be possible to buy it here in Spain but I haven't been able to find it for quite awhile. In answer to your question I have also made a baby blanket for a great nephew who will be born in April. I have posted about it on my blog as well as other little makes for the group I belong too. Keep well Amanda x

  9. Hi Gracie. You will love it when your paper whites bloom—they are wonderful! Yay for snow. I would love for us to get some or sunshine. Kind of wanting the weather to be anything but rainy. Love your new fence. Very nice!
    Take care and be safe.
    Blessings,

  10. How lovely to live near a mountain, especially such a majestic one!
A friend brought me paper white bulbs and they just started flowering today. I have six bulbs, so I hope more than one flowers.
I am always crafting: knitting, quilting, embroidering. These are getting me through this Covid time!

  11. I have four paper whites in a pot but they need so much water! Hoping they will bloom soon. I am struggling with blogging at the moment because the devices are being used by the girls and I end up with the arse end of the day. I read blogs on my phone but can never really coherently comment on such a small keypad but please know I am listening to you. Stay safe
