June Crafting Life!

Ahoy there, and thanks so much for stopping by for a visit!  I so appreciate hearing from you through your comments here or by any means we are able to exchange news.

In June my yarn crafting focus was on finishing knitting a baby blanket, but among the things that distracted me from that focus was...

riding the trolley along the Willamette River in southern Portland, OR with a group of friends... a fun way to get to see aspects of the city we rarely if ever see otherwise...

seeing tall city buildings in the background of the river marina offered us a relaxing view in contrast to the crowded speedy freeway driving it took to get to the trolley...

viewing the Sellwood Bridge gently arching over the Willamette River was a highlight of the ride...

glimpsing magnificent Mt. Hood on clear days as I drive around on routine errands is a pleasant respite from the manmade congestion of city life...

knitting and crocheting blankets for babies who spend time in a local hospital neonatal intensive care unit continues to be a project to which a group of ladies in our church is committed.  The ladies are prolific and rapid stitchers...

finishing slowly knitting this blanket in 100% acrylic  Simply Soft Caron yarn that the sister of one of our group members generously donated to us was a joy for me; we have been praying that each blanket will be a tangible encouragement for the baby and family that receive it...

meeting Hobbs and Garfield, my Grand Kittens, recently was delightful and enjoying them will be a bonus when I drive over to visit my youngest daughter and her husband who live about a half hours drive away from me...

sharing my first name, Gracie, with my neighbor's Pug, Gracie, is fun but a little challenging in that when I hear Pug Gracie called or commanded I
have to discern I am NOT being addressed :-) ...

golfing on a miniature golf course with a group of friends recently brought out the happy wild women in me as you can see.  Have you played miniature golf while you are crafting your life?

Gracie xx

  1. What fun to ride the trolley and have such a fun tour. The blankets are a delight and must bring joy to the families that receive them and hope for their little ones, made with love. We love to play crazy golf with our Grandchildren and always have fun.

  2. How nice to see your blog pop to the top of my list! I enjoyed seeing all your fun activities you're doing. Bravo on the blanket finish. I really admire you and your friends who make these hand made blankets for the little ones in need.. so few people have real handcrafted blankets given to them. I enjoyed seeing the trolley and the views you saw on the rails. I'm proud of you for doing the mini golf.. I haven't done that for decades.. maybe only once in my life. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  4. Hi Gracie! I loved seeing about your life. That trolley ride!!!!!!! Oh my goodness that looks like a fun time. Was that with women from church? The sights were familiar ones to me, but only from the frantically busy traffic as you mentioned.
The blankets are so pretty and I know they will be appreciated and loved by the recipients. My favorite was your beautiful face holding your completed project. Was the photo in the lobby of Abundant Life? It looks familiar to me somehow.
Finally, that picture of you playing minature golf is wonderful! :-) . You look so very happy. We played a couple of years ago and you make me want to attempt it again.
It was great catching up with you. How fun to be your neighbor calling you, (or the dog). I want to buy a condo right next door from you.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  6. We spent a night in Portland last week en route to Newport and experienced the worst thunderstorm we'd ever seen. It had lots of crazy forked lightning, too. Hope you have a great Fourth.

  7. So nice to catch up with you, Gracie! When I retire, I am definitely going to set my eyes on the Willamette and Mt. Hood. Such beauty in our country!
I would like to find a group of charity knitters that meets in the evenings. We have some, but they all meet during the work day. I do knit hats and mittens for children, but it would be nice to do it with a group of knitters!
Your grand-kitties are so darling! I miss fostering kittens so that there were always kitties in the house. I stopped when Keith moved in. He really can't foster cats because he can't let go of them. We'd have dozens of them in the house!

  9. That trolley has such charm, I would love the join for a day of riding and crafting. So impressed by your pile of knitted blankets, such beauties and such good intentions. And I can't believe I've never been miniature golf, the fun I've been missing.

  11. Here I am, a month after you posted this. Finally, I'm settling in a bit after a month of travel and then two eye surgeries in July.
I love how you are crafting your life!
