Winter Project Link Party at Thistlebear: February Cheering!

At the moment my winter projects are resting in my rocking chair so I could get a group shot of them to show you.  However, two of the four have been dragged around over the last month as I worked on them here and there.

I have made progress on the blue merino blanket and the preemie blanket I am knitting/crocheting. My shawl and kitchen towel were basket cases still this month...but winter is not over...yet....

It was fun to work on the merino blanket as I watched the Super Bowl football game yesterday.  The blanket pattern name is Super Blanket so it seemed appropriate to knit some rows on it as I watched the game.  The teams were evenly matched so the playing was more exciting, and I gave some celebratory "WooHoos!" throughout the game and as the Denver, CO, Broncos won. Having lived outside of Denver for several years I feel some loyalty to cheer for the Broncos!

In my last post I mentioned my oldest SIL's mom was in surgery for a torn muscle as I typed the post.  She is back home now and we are cheering her on to a speedy and complete recovery.  Thanks to those of you who prayed for her, and for my great nephew in NE, who is still home recovering from meningitis.

Oh, and thinking of health concerns, my dear NY friend, Becky emailed a link to an encouraging, and interesting article on the health benefits of doing needlework which you might enjoy reading HERE.

Wishing you well, and cheering on your progress, on your creative efforts, on your winter projects!

Gracie xx

  1. Hi Gracie, thank you for joining in with my link party. I enjoyed seeing some of the things you have been working on. We watched the Super Bowl too; we're not necessarily big football fans but my husband did grow up in Colorado and the Broncos are a favorite team of a lot of people in New Mexico since we don't have our own pro football team down here. I'm glad your SIL's mother is doing better. I hope you're having a good week so far.

  7. Looks like you're making good progress! Heh! Neat to work on a super blanket during the Super Bowl. We were happy to see the Broncos win as well, since my siblings have been Manning fans for years. Prayers for good health for your family and friends. Take care and may God bless and be with you!

  8. It's good to have a few projects on the go so that you can pick and choose what you're in the mood to work on. My son's girlfriend comes from Denver, they're both American Football fans, though my son supports New England so there's quite a bit of friendly rivalry when the Broncos are playing the Patriots. Sending my very best wishes for your poorly family members and friends.

  9. Hello Gracie - I seemed to miss this post. Glad to hear that those who have been unwell are getting better. Well done with your projects. I clicked on the link re the benefits of knitting - something I have known about for sometime. I was pleased to see Betsan Corkhill mentioned. She has done a lot of work re the benefits of knitting/needlework. She has travelled far afield as well as all over the UK promoting the health benefits. Her Forum Stitchlinks is well worth visiting. I have met Betsan and she is a lovely lady who works tirelessly to get knitting/stitching recognised as a real benefit to well being. I started a knitting group three years ago at our local library and found that it helped a lot of people - relieved stress, loneliness, pain etc etc. I handed the reins over to another lady and it is still going strong. Oooops sorry seemed to have got a bit carried away but it is dear to my heart. Take care Gracie. Hugs Anne x

  10. Great progress there on that blanket! Winter is a great time for finishing up all those projects.
I'll pop over and read the article on needlework. Anything to justify my incessant knitting...
