As the daylight hours slip away so quickly from me in this Autumn to Winter seasonal shift, I am once more caught by surprise...both protesting and embracing the change.
This year I am celebrating six weeks of Advent instead of the four I have in the past...longer to focus on celebrating the coming of Christ, the Light of the world:
longer to notice the changes of light around me, the glow of sunlight on the new coat of snow on Mt. Hood,
longer to enjoy the warmth of candlelight and Christmas tree lights and my funny little electric fireplace in the hearth,
longer to appreciate the little OttLite on the arm of my chair while I stitch on this and that,
and
longer to appreciate the light of love in the eyes of my family members...
I am enjoying the light around me.
Are you enjoying the light around you?

What a lovely post Gracie. You have just given a considerable boost to my (very limited this year) Christmas season spirit.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful family get-together! The pies look scrumptious!
ReplyDeletePerfection! I love seeing your home all dressed to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Little granddaughters joining in the fun. How blessed you are my sweet Gracie. I wish I could be there stitching with you in your cozy space. I'll be seeing you soon.

Hi Gracie! I love that picture of the baby girl under the tree! Adorable! It looks like you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It looks like a cozy and happy time decorating your tree. It's gorgeous! We have light in our house too. I will see you in the pool at 2ish!

Your home looks so warm and cosy, Gracie. I am always extra appreciative of the light at this time of year, when it's so dark. Candlelight or sunlight, I don't mind. x
ReplyDeleteAh! LOVE all the candlelight in your home and the Christmas tree looks great! I got a peek at your lovely Mt. Hood this weekend which made me smile (as it always does)--your photo of it, all snow covered, was so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI celebrate the Advent/Christmas season from the beginning of Advent to Epiphany (or later like the Norwegians).
Advent Blessings,
Aimee
PS: Yummy looking food pix!
I enjoy you Gracie, and the light that flows from you.

Hi Gracie. I tried to comment from my ipad, but couldn't. Such pretty things in this post. The baby under the tree! The beautiful table, set in such finery. I am glad you are enjoying the holiday season with your loved ones.

ReplyDeleteA beautiful post Gracie- lovely photos. I am enjoying the light from my Advent Star. Also today I went to a Carol Concert - raising funds for children with cancer and some of the carols were sung by candlelight - so beautiful. Also saw all my grandchildren - together at the weekend - the l'ight' of my life (among other things ) Hugs Anne x
ReplyDeleteA beautiful post, dear Gracie, capturing those special family times so well. I love the baby under the tree looking up at the lights. I am enjoying the advent lights in the windows, and the tree lights twinkling inside and out.
ReplyDeleteI love to think of your handmade bunny snuggled up there with your flock of sheep :)

A beautiful post, dear Gracie, which reflects just how I feel about this precious candle-lit time of year. For someone who struggles with the departure of summer I feel completely at ease with this season. It is sweet and the darkness does not bother me to much as there is magic and love in the air.
ReplyDeleteThat first picture is priceless.

Lovely post Gracie, How did I miss it? Our tree goes up next week. Jo x
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed all your photos and thoughts on light in this Advent season. i enjoyed a lovely sunset yesterday on my way home from the post office. The big clouds were to the left of the sun that was slowly sinking in the west. Pink sky oh so lovely....I was driving so I didn't have a chance to take a photo. But it's in my mind. Phil is putting the net lights on our rhody bush now. So there will be light and soon the Christmas tree this week. Your table at Thanksgiving looks so pretty. Years ago I want blue glasses like yours. Never did get any. Maybe one day.. Will see you soon! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful photo of your granddaughter under the tree, she looks so happy! X
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed visiting you home. Wishing you a very happy New Year Gracie.
