Dallying During Dahlia Days

My youngest daughter brought home bouquets of Dahlias from her favorite roadside stand for us to enjoy.
Recently, I met friends from NY at Multnomah Lodge for lunch and on the way home stopped to get a photo of Vista House from the East.
Isn't the glass pretty?
Looking East at the Columbia River
We used to have wild sweet peas in our home in NY, so finding them growing here in Oregon  helps me feel right at home here in Oregon as well.

After leaving Vista House, I stopped at the nearby Lavender farm to pick up a fragrant bouquet of Lavender, which I am enjoying on my tea tray while I continue to work on crocheting my Ruby Shawl.

Since I last posted I have been plotting and planning flying to Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts and Prince Edward Island.  It has been so much fun to line up visits with friends and family as well as contemplate a little sight seeing.

After my last road trip, my Dodge mini-van started making some rough sounds that resulted in having the alternator and serpentine belt replaced.  I was sooooo glad neither part broke while I was driving!

But my trip planning was interrupted when a week ago after swimming with Teresa, I planted the left side of my face into a flower bed I was enjoying viewing on my way back to the car! Broken glasses, a chipped front tooth, and a few cuts and bruises, sidelined me for a bit.  However, my dentist mended my tooth and I am healing miraculously fast. I am so grateful I did not do more damage to myself or the flowers!  My new glasses should arrive this week...Teresa told me to buy some glamorous ones :-)

Well I'd best not dilly-dally if I want to finish the shawl to take with me in ten days!!!

Have you been doing any dallying lately?

Gracie xx

  10. Gracie, I am glad your tooth has been mended and that you are healing up. And great luck that your car has been fixed up and nothing broke on your trip. Your chair looks so cozy with the beautiful blue glass reflecting the sun in the background. I wish I was sitting right there next to you crocheting and drinking tea.

  22. Oh Gracie, so sorry to hear about your tumble! And very grateful you didn't come off any worse. Watch out for those flowerbeds, they can sneak up on you! My husband went over his handlebars a few years ago and has a mended tooth in front too. Thank goodness for modern dentistry. Not a lot of dilly-dallying here, but a fantastic Indian summer, and I am off on a two-day break in the morning, for which I am profoundly grateful. Take care xox

  24. I tried before to leave you a message here about a week ago, my message vanished. I am sorry to read about your fall, it is amazing as children we used to tumble, get up and run on. Not so now! The aches and pains develop for a day or two! I wanted to share a photo of a dahlia I saw on the internet, I thought you would like it, I hope the link works. xx https://twitter.com/MsJackMonroe/status/508312209387421696/photo/1

  25. Oh the Dahlia I am trying to show you has a great name. Google search 'Honka Surprise' what the name lacks in elegance the flower makes up for! Honka! lol
