High Summer Delights

Since friends and members of our family flew home last week, we have made a flurry of calls and texts  to make sure all landed safely and just to savor the delight we experienced in the time we were together.

Mt. Hood is still Mt. Hood, but a little less snowy.  Grasses are growing, and waving and drying and flowers wild and cultivated are blooming and being plucked during warm sunny days.

Trees are growing in all sorts of fantastic shapes and patterns in the nurseries that surround us.  Sheep and goats rest in the shade.

And little Grand Girls and their mom delight in the cool water spray from the garden hose, while I snap some photos of them, knit one more row on a blue dishcloth, and wave at my youngest little Grand, Joy, and she waves back at me.

High summer delights, indeed!

What are your delights these days?

Gracie xx

  1. It all looks so very pretty, lovely part of the world you live in.

  2. Is there always snow on Mt Hood? Playing in the water, what fun!

  3. Hello Gracie. What a delight to come online this morning and see the beautiful photos you have posted- they and your family are quite delightful. I was also delighted by all the comments you had left me. That must have taken a while! I didn't expect you to comment on all my posts as I know you have been very busy - but it is lovely that you have and I truly enjoyed reading them all. More delights for me as this morning we are off to meet up with my D.I.L. at a point halfway between our homes and we will bring my grandsons back here for a few days. We are also going to spend some time with my granddaughters so that 'the cousins' get to spend time together.
Hope there are more delights in store for you this week. Love and hugs Anne x

PS I managed the Bloglovin stuff more by luck than judgement :-) x

  4. What beauty you live amongst Gracie! And look at that beautiful snow still on the high peaks! Happy days indeed!
    Joy x

  5. Oh that little wave just makes my heart sing, your family are beautiful!
My delight at the moment is time, time to be with my girls and husband (he doesn't often get a mention because he's blog averse), time to blog, time to cook and time to make.

  6. It's so green there! I love to see photos where other bloggers live. It looks like you've been having a really nice time this summer. :)

  7. Lovely shots of our beautiful Mt Hood! Cute kiddos!!
PS: Those nursery trees make me think of the Lord of the Rings for some reason:)

  8. I love the wheat and snowy mountain picture. I had to keep looking at it to check it was real! What a juxtaposition. We have the paddling pool filled too. Jo x

  9. Gracie, your pics are soooo pretty! What a wonderful summer it is for you....grand babies and all!
    Love, Shari

  10. Delights indeed my friend, you are blessed with that beautiful and loving famiy of yours. My delight this week is a visit from my niece and two of her children, it is fun to hear laughter in my pool and have toys on my floor.
    Hugs to you,

  11. Those photos do express delight indeed! And of course I thank you for keeping me up to date with Mt. Hood. Just recently I've noticed how the trees in Aberdeen are heavy with their seeds, and the green is that bit less vivid than in early summer. There's a little bit of a sense of a turning on the horizon. But we have more summer ahead of us, hooray!

  12. Oh, oh, oh ... Mt. Hood is so beautiful, especially with that golden wheatfield stretched out below it and the dark green firs in between.

Those tall twisted green trees (must be a tree farm?) look like a convocation of wizards....

What a beautiful collection of photos.

Our delights right now are: mild days after a week of intense heat, and fresh tomatoes and herbs from the planters. :)

  13. I'm so glad you're enjoying the summer with your family and visitors and sprinklers and mountains and funny trees. My delights this week are the same.. family and grandkids. Sunshine, warmth, the ocean... loving this summer! Teresa :-)

  14. Hello Gracie! What beautiful pictures. That view of Mt. hood with the wheat field is stunning. I'm so glad your summer is going so well and you've had lots of family time. Your little granddaughters wave melts my heart it's so sweet. My time is coming. All of our children and Dennis' Mom will be here next month. Enjoy the summer my friend.

  15. Dear Gracie you have captured the beautiful summer in your photos.......the wonderful landscape, sunshine, blue sky, and sweet grandchildren having fun with the water sprinklers! Your youngest grand child's little wave to you is adorable!

  16. Amazing photos! I just can't get over how pretty it is there! So glad to see you are enjoying all that beauty that surrounds you.

  17. Love the photo's Gracie! You are having a lovely summer :) In answer to your question, my delights are fresh veg from the garden, early morning walks and a general feel good vibe :)
Hope you continue to have a lovely week
    Sarah x

  19. wendy has left a new comment on your post "High Summer Delights":

All looked wonderful Gracie, my highlight/delight was having my 2 grandbabies for 3 nights.
Mr 8mth old and little miss almost 6 all to ourselves. Lots of fun and chasing a double
    steam train again ☺☺

  20. Isn't it lovely seeing the grandkids all getting on and enjoying themselves. What fun was had. I'm so glad that you got your camera so that we could share it too!! I love the series of colourful photos. Doesn't Mt Hood look wonderful. The cattle lying in the fields...the strange shaped trees...the bright colours of flowers and knitting. What a truly beautiful post. Thanks so much for sharing it with us! Joan

  21. That fifth pic looks like a scene from The Lord of the Rings ... what an amazing view :)

  22. Your photos are more and more stunning Gracie. You've become quite the professional photographer. Glad to see all is going swimmingly in Oregon. This is my favorite time of year in the PNW.
