Heartfelt Friendship

Monday I met Teresa and Taci at a nearby restaurant.  The last time we got together with our blogging friend, Betsy, as well, and Taci showed us an adorable sheep ornament she had crocheted. Teresa, said, "you know who else would really love this sheep is Meredith, our blogging friend from Florida."

Taci went home and crocheted a sheep for Meredith and sent it to her!  Then Meredith made four lovely felted heart pins and sent them to Taci  for Taci, Teresa, Betsy and me!

Yesterday, Taci gave Teresa and me our felted heart pins. [Betsy lives in Spokane, WA, and so far, we have only gotten together when she is in Portland visiting her daughter's family.]

Meredith, I send you my heartfelt thanks for the lovely pin you made for me!!!!

Yesterday, Teresa, brought Taci and me each an half dozen beautiful eggs from her flock of hens!  Not only were they beautiful but they were delicious at dinner last night when we ate them cooked over easy, and I am going to crush the shells and add them to my flower garden.

Teresa, I send you my heartfelt thanks for the wonderful eggs you gave me!!!!!!

Yesterday, Taci also brought Teresa and me each a beautiful crochet hook holder she made with felt, embellished with a crocheted heart and lace crocheted edging! Because she knew my birthday is coming up Taci also made a  mug cosy embellished with a crocheted heart shaped tea bag and gave me a mug wrapped in it!

Taci, I send you my heartfelt thanks for the delightful gifts you gave me!!!

On Sunday, I finished crocheting a cowl hood, and gave it  to our family friend for her birthday, which was Sunday. [Whew!!!]  She is staying with us while she is healing from breaking her shoulder on January 1, 2013.  I used Lion Brand Homespun yarn in the Corinthian colorway.  Using an N sized crochet hook, I chained 62 and crocheted alternating rows of single crochets and double crochets, using the entire skein.  I also gave our family friend a unique necklace my blogging friend, Sosae, made. The chain  is antique brass and there are 4 stitch markers made of Czch glass suspended from the chain.

I had hoped to crochet heart shaped dishcloths for Teresa and Taci, but was only able to make a Valentine for each of them with a detachable heart button I hope each of them will enjoy using.

This morning  I read, "A skilled craftsman made gold thread by beating gold into thin sheets and cutting it into fine strips. He then embroidered it into the linen with the blue, purple, and scarlet yarn." Ex. 39:3 NLT The passage describes how God told Moses to tell the craftsmen to make clothing for the priests to wear while leading worship.  The colors described reminded me of the Corinthian colorway I used to crochet the cowl hood. Then the name of the colorway, 'Corinthian' reminded me of 1Corinthians 13:13 NLT, "There are three things that will endure, faith, hope, and love, but the greatest of these is love."

One of the most exciting things in life to me is to be involved in the creative process, to appreciate color and form in the world around me and to share that excitement with God and others. Fifty years ago I never imagined that something called 'blogging' :-) would be a way I would be introduced to creative friends who would encourage me to know God and others and enduring faith, hope and love!

To you who visit here and interact with me, I send my heartfelt thanks for your friendship!!!!!!!

xx,
Gracie

  1. Hi Gracie.. I agree with you, who would have thought we would find such great friends via blogging? But I have given it some thought and what I realize is that by finding blogs with interests similar to our own, we also find friends that have so many things in common, right straight off! I'm glad you found my blog and that we've become good friends. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

    1. No, I did not change any settings, but when I checked the settings it said word verification was on...very strange. Anyway, I changed it to no word verification. Thanks for letting me know, Teresa, my friend.:-)

  3. Oh Gracie, it is I who have been blessed by your friendship. The greatest of these is indeed love and I marvel at how He let us find each other through this modern thing called "blogging".

It looks like you ladies had a wonderful time and I hope to be able to see you next time you're all together. Your cowl turned out beautifully and it does look like gold is spun into it.

    Blessings,
    Betsy

  15. How wonderful that you get to spend time with your dear friends.

I have been blessed to see the place where Moses struck the rock with his staff and water gushed forth when I was on one of my visits to the beautiful Hashemite kingdom of Jordan. Very moving.
