November ing

Giving thanks in 2020 has ranged from muted to thundered in volume in my thinking and conversing, but I was especially mindful of it during November because we have a special day of celebrating it here in the USA.  Have you felt more mindful of giving thanks this month?

Puzzling over putting together an autumn-themed puzzle has occupied a bit of my attention as well.

Meditating on encouraging Scripture has renewed my thoughts and helped me move forward.

Coloring has been an enjoyable part of the meditative process also.

Cooking almond flour pumpkin bread was startling when just after this photo the loaves deflated, but the one I tasted was at least pleasingly flavorful :)

Preparing to celebrate the advent of Christmas, I am also organizing the materials to roll beeswax candles following Teresa's beautiful tutorial.

Attending my first drive-through birthday party was fun and noisy as we followed an antique fire engine, honked our car horns, rolled down the car windows, and cheered and waved posters, a banner, and balloons as we neared our friend's house.

Wearing masks and dropping off cards and balloons and gifts to our friend in the red coat made for a memorable unique celebration!

Now I am wondering what your ings were this past month...I hope they were filled with blessings!

  1. Many blessings Gracie lovely to see what you have enjoyed. Don't you find it funny how loaves can collapse but still taste okay 😀😀 Lovely doing colouring and great to do the safe birthday passby. Here cases have been none for 30 days so feeling good about that but still wear our masks when out and about. 😀😀

  3. So very wonderful and thoughtful how you and your friends celebrated that birthday. It sounds like tremendous fun and a very good idea!! She will never forget it for sure. My cake deflated too the other day! I was quite put out but I think it was my own fault because as the oven light had gone I couldn't check the cakes without opening the oven door and I suppose that is what caused the cake to flatter. Never mind though like yours it still tastes fine!! I have finally found beeswax sheets online here as I want to make Teresa's candles too. I still haven't found coloured sheets though...got to google some more :-) I have been walking and walking (my ings)as much as I can in November got to make some space for the Christmas goodies! keep well Amanda x

  4. A drive through Birthday party sounds like fun! I am glad you were able to celebrate your friend's birthday in a fun and memorable way. It looks like you had some amazing autumn weather, too. I wish I had some inner calm to meditate. I can't seem to turn my brain off, no matter how relaxed I feel. I finish for Christmas on the 18th, maybe then I'll be able to feel calm. Have a wonderful week x

  5. I am happy that I inspired you to do some candle rolling. I rolled more and now I might need to order more red wax sheets! It's neat that you are enjoying working on that puzzle and also coloring. Keep our hands and minds occupied is such a good thing to keep our spirits positive. I hope to see you during the holidays! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  7. That looks like a really fun way to celebrate a friend's birthday. Definitely unique and very special in light of the current social distancing. I think almond flour is like oat flour and makes for an extra moist bread or cake unless you mix it with another flour. Your coloring reminds me that I need to get my books out again. Take care. Stay safe.

  8. I think I've been more mindful of giving thanks this whole year. I tend to forget my blessings amid the bustle of everyday life but this pandemic has been a constant reminder. Nice to see you keeping busy, as always - the bread looks wonderful and I like to coloring as well.

  9. Hello Gracie. You are certainly keeping busy.
I am struggling slightly with some aspects of the Covid situation but trying to count my many blessings.
I made two Christmas Cakes and have done a lot of paper crafting - keeps me sane. Take care and Stay Safe. Anne x

  10. Happy Second Sunday of Advent, Gracie. How about a photo of the finished photo? One of the things I'm thankful for is being able to stay in friends and relatives online instead of in person! We've been staying out of trouble with lots of walks in our hilly neighborhood, and I've been doing lots of baking, too, and lots of knitting as well.

  12. The drive through party sounds like good safe fun! We have been invited to a virtual wedding next week. Who would have guessed a year ago that life would be like this.

Yes, there have been many blessings this month. I am grateful for those to come.

    Merry Christmas to you, Gracie.

  13. Here it is--Advent is over, Christmas is done and now we are in to the twelve days of Christmas and almost to New Year's Day.
My -ings have been walk-ing with the family most days, watch-ing the snow sift down (and sometimes plummet).
    Happy New Year to you!
