Collaging

Since my last post, my good friend Teresa came to meet my newest granddaughter, Sarah, while my oldest sister, Carolyn was visiting from CA.  Teresa generously brought beautiful pink booties she crocheted for Sarah. Thank you again, Teresa.
After a week's fast and fun visit, Carolyn left, and one afternoon I came home from running errands and found a box waiting for me from my good friend, Betsy.  She sent me this lovely blown glass teapot because she knew I would enjoy it and I am!  It is sitting on a wonderful doily that Betsy crocheted. Thank you again, Betsy.
Last February my good friend, Fran, gave me these primroses which have persistently bloomed on our front porch through our months of drought, and weeks of rain and frost. I am perplexed...wondering how they can be so hardy in spite of my care or lack their of! Thank you again, Fran.
Mr. and Mrs. Mallard are visiting our front pond and we have already started hearing a new froggy chorus from the pond, especially at night.
This last weekend I had great fun attending our worship art group at church.  We worked on making vision boards/folders. I don't have a good spot for a vision board on my wall so I opted to make a folding version from file folders.  I really am enjoying collaging the surface of both sides...not quite finished yet.
Then I think I am going to put the words walking with Jesus on the folder and make foot shaped pieces of solid colored paper with words like love pray enjoy patience mercy and glory as goal reminders.
Sunday afternoon my youngest daughter, Elisabeth, took this photo of the radiant rainbow we saw while standing on our front porch.
My oldest son who lives just outside of NYC sent this photo and the next to show us how much snow they got from the East Coast blizzard!
He, his family and neighbors got plenty of exercise, and thankfully one of the neighbors helped clear pathways with his snowblower.
This morning I enjoyed watching the sunlight stream through our windows onto my collage of collections.
Looking at all that I surround myself with can you tell that I love the simplicity of Japanese art displayed on the backdrop of black and white shoji screens?

Hoping your week is a satisfying, creative collage!

Gracie xx

  4. Such a fun such a fun and content post Gracie. Could you send me a touch of your peaceful serene-ness? I don't think that's a word but it fits you. :-) Love the picture of Teresa and Sarah and that you like the teapot. It called "Gracie" to me when I saw it! Your collage board is gorgeous. Love, love the colors. Mandy and Brad got lots of snow too. I need to ask her what the final total was. Thank you for sharing with us Gracie. I always loved the frog
choruses when I visited Mandy in Portland. I would leave my bedroom window open just a bit so I could hear the frogs. I do miss that. Have a lovely evening my friend.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  9. How lovely - I had seen Teresa at your home with the bay but that is another super photo of them both. That was a lot of snow. We have the same storm here now but minus the snow but lots of rain. it is not too wet here but it is in other parts of the UK in areas that are just clearing up from other floods. :-(
The collage is gorgeous - super colours. I've not blogged for a couple of weeks as I'm having trouble with photos. I now have a new camera but am still trying to sort it out. Take care - hugs Anne x

  14. You're having some lovely moments lately, Gracie. I enjoyed seeing Teresa with the baby again, it's so nice that you can get together and share each other's lives and families in person. I'm glad your son is faring well in the snow. My mother in Poughkeepsie said they got not a single flake, but my sister just 20 miles south of there in Putnam County got a foot or so. Hope you're having a good week.

  16. Glad you had a wonderful time with Teresa! Your collage is looking lovely. The rainbow is beautiful, and it looks like your son has really had some snow. We had to do a little shoveling the other day, but it looks like your son has more than we do. Enjoyed the photos from around your house. The blue glassware is beautiful--though I can't help but think of the work you have to do to keep it all dusted!

  17. Hi Gracie! I loved the photo of Teresa with your new grandbaby!!! Such love!! And your home gives me such a peaceful feeling. It is cozy. You can tell there is so much love there. Sweet of Betsy to send you the lovely teapot! She has certainly been in my prayers. What a lot of snow!!! My friend in New Jersey kept sending me photos too. Fun for a weekend. But I wouldn't want that to happen all the time where I live!!!
    Love to you.

  18. What a thoughtful gift from Betsy! Mmm, tea sounds most wonderful! Love the tartan tablecloth you have on that table also. Teresa looks like she is enjoying time with Baby Sarah! She makes the cutest, cutest baby booties! Regarding your comment on my blog, I think you are referring to the Ridgefield NWR. I haven't been there yet, but it is on my list too:) It's in Washington state, on the lower Columbia River, not too far from Portland. They have some hunting there, so I would recommend checking online before you go. There are several wetlands/refuges on the OR/WA border along the Columbia--aren't we blessed? :)
    Blessings,
    Aimee
