Thank you for celebrating the birth of my newest Grand Girl, Rose, with me! I appreciate your loving comments so much! Can you believe she is already six weeks old?!?
Our family celebrated Thanksgiving with a dinner on the day after the official USA holiday so that all in our household could attend. In the following days I lit Hanukkah candles and the first candle in my Advent wreath. I have much for which to be thankful: home, health, happy relationships with God and others, and much beauty in the world around me.
The ice has been growing thicker on our ponds, and this morning a dusting of snow made them even more outstanding. Mt. Hood is collecting a thicker snow white cape which we get glimpses of as the clouds lift from time to time. When I have gone out to the car the leaves have crunched under my feet due to the shards of ice hiding among them, and my favorite neighborhood holly tree is full of bright red berries.
In between attending gatherings at church, shopping, and swimming, I am getting a bit of stitching done. I love this time of year...my cozy electric fire in the fireplace, tea, and cocoa, and toast. I am crocheting some Christmas wreath ornaments.
What are you celebrating and creating?
Gracie xx
It really is looking incredibly festive at your home - glad to hear you had a great Thanksgiving. At the moment I am celebrating that my darling Mum is recovering well from a recent illness, just in time for Christmas (which has always been her favourite time of year). I am just starting to make little gifts for friend and family - had better get a move on as time is ticking on!!

That holly tree is amazing and your home looks so inviting with all your holiday decorations. Looks like you had a lot of little helping hands. I've been knitting up a lot of dish clothes, mittens, and afghans for gifts and trying to stay warm by the fire. It's been dangerously cold here so have to limit the time spent outdoors so as not to get frost bite. Knitting by the fire is my favorite pass time this time of year anyway, so the fact that it's so cold out is the perfect excuse to do just that. :-)
ReplyDeleteHello Gracie
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for your recent comments. I am always delighted to hear from you. Your house looks so cosy....it seems to say to me come in and sit down!! LOL! All those lovely Christmas decorations and everything is so tidy which reminds me I really need to get cracking and give my place a good clean before the family arrive over Christmas. I am at present trying to make a little angel to send off to my sister in Australia instead of a card. Just to say I am thinking of her.
keep well
Amanda xx
Gracie the picture of the girls helping with the tree is the best picture I have seen to really show the meaning of Christmas. You are so wonderful to show your family so much love and care.

Hi Gracie! As I was scrolling down through your photos, I thought to myself, these don't even need any text at all. Their beauty alone speaks volumes! The one with the little miss on I presume Daddy's shoulders, to set something atop the tree, gave me chills. So much beauty, in just the every day things we encounter all the time. I need to remind myself of this right now. Yes, these past 6 weeks for your new baby grandgirl have surely flown fast! You are surrounded by such a loving family. Isn't; that the best gift of all?!!

Looks like you all had such a nice time together.
ReplyDeleteIt all looks fabulously festive Gracie. And I'm loving the sound of the crisp winter weather. It is still mild here ... and it usually stays that way until January. I am impatient for proper frosts, crazy I know. But I do wonder if the lack of cold contributes to December never really feeling so festive here.
ReplyDeleteHi Gracie - your photo's are wonderful! Really evocative of a great time spent with your family :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of your weekend...and keep on stitching, so that you can share it with us!!
Hugs, Sarah x
Everything looks beautiful and festive, Gracie. I love it. How nice that you celebrate both Hannukah and Christmas. I grew up in a mixed-faith family myself and I have tried to carry on some of the traditions I had, both at Hannukah and Passover, combined with Easter and Christmas. I love that the girls wear matching nightgowns! How sweet. Thank you for the comments you've left on my blog, it's always really nice to hear from you and I appreciate your friendship very much.
ReplyDeleteYour home looks so cosy and full of Love. That holly tree is loaded with berries. Jo x

Gracie!!!! I don't even know where to begin to tell you how happy your post made my heart. The girls in their little flannel nighties. The tree. The Advent wreath. Oh my. Just everything! Your home is so cozy and warm, just like you! One day I hope to be back to sit with you and crochet or knit awhile. I'll see you girls in two weeks. Yippee!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Hi Gracie, Your thanksgiving celebrations look wonderful. Mount Hood looks so magical, I have never seen such a huge holly tree before!

Hello Gracie I loved this post! Your home looks such a warm, happy, festive place to be with your lovely family. I loved your descriptions of the ice on the crisp leaves, the snowy mountain and the red berries. So glad you had a happy time at Thanksgiving and can now light your Advent candles and enjoy the Christmas festivities.

So much love and warmth in every one of these pictures! Just beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, Gracie, what lovely photos! You know I can't resist Mt. Hood - it's looking very majestic under all that snow. And your tree is lovely - and your rug is even lovelier. So glad you had a good Thanksgiving and that December has started out well. May it get only better!
ReplyDeleteI am making: a cowl, some mitts, swatches for magazines, a fleece vest for a young friend, new kitchen curtains, possibly a hat for a niece (if she ever sends me her measurements), a scarf and mitts for another family member, a baby sweater, and a purple purse for a very small niece. So far I have one pair of mitts done. :O
Hi my dear friend Gracie,
ReplyDeleteWhat nice pictures and how fun and warm your house looks...it's really and truly beginning to look a lot like Christmas... I'm really looking forward to seeing you soon :) 🎄
Lovely Christmas tree and the nine candle holder. The tree outside certainly blends in with Christmas.
